it's a chat room. you pick a name, you walk in, you talk. no account, no profile to fill out, no feed deciding who you get to hear. the kind of thing the internet used to be full of before it got tidy.
open all night. mostly quiet, sometimes not. that's chat rooms.
DigiChat died a long time ago. the company behind it folded, the software got abandoned, the rooms went quiet and then they went offline for good.
i grew up in places like it. msn windows open til 4am, away messages that were really just diary entries, mods who knew everyone's typing quirks. so i went and dug the old thing out of the grave. took it apart, found where it was rotting, patched the holes, and stood it back up somewhere it can't get knocked over or quietly sold off.
same java applet underneath. it runs right in your browser now though, no downloads, no plugins, no java prompt from 2006. it's held together with spite and nostalgia and it works.
be decent to the regulars and the new blood both. nobody here is more welcome than anybody else.
no hate, no harassment, no doxxing. ever. that one isn't a warning, it's the door.
everything else runs on the old system. warned once, muted twice, gone the third time. the mods keep logs, so assume someone's reading. usually we are.
don't abuse the power if you get it. the void is watching, and so is everyone else.
there's no application. hang around, be steady, don't be the thing we're keeping an eye out for. be around enough and decent enough and someone hands you a set.
staff come in through a different door. if you're meant to walk through it, you'll know.
stay weird, stay soft, stay up too late.
